WHY MINDFUL & SOMATIC THERAPY?

* Centuries of Eastern Wisdom has shown the benefits of mindfulness and meditation practices on the body, heart, & mind. * Somatic Experiencing is an evidence-based trauma therapy developed by Dr Peter Levine (the Author of 'Waking the Tiger: Healing Trauma', 'In An Unspoken Voice', and 'Trauma and Memory'). *It is a creative process that helps you understand yourself (interoceptively) from the inside with curiosity, wonder, & a non-judgemental attitude. * It is a 'magical' process that allows your inner wisdom to arise organically and enables you to process difficult sensations, emotions, images, or memories with compassion. * It can improve your ability to manage stress, anxiety, difficult emotions, panic attacks, depression, and symptoms of trauma. * It can include talk therapy, education, mindfulness exercises, guided meditation journeys, breathing exercises, and movement practices. As someone who has walked this path myself, I learned how empowering listening to the wisdom of the body, the intuition of the heart, and the knowledge of the mind can facilitate the healing journey. Combined with spiritual and psychotherapy training in the Buddhist tradition I find the Heart Qualities of Loving Kindness, Compassion, Equanimity, and Joy crucial elements toward accepting oneself and developing the practice self-compassion.
